Welp, congress has let President Donald Trump know that they trust him ‘bout as far as they can throw him.

Congress has taken away two important powers of the president. The first being the power to remove the Russian sanctions that were put in place during then President Barack Obama’s tenure and the second being the power to make recess appointments.

Donald Trump’s bromance with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump’s threat to fire U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions over his decision to recuse himself from the Department of Justice's (DOJ) investigation into Russia hacking the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) server caused the Republican led Congress to take matters into their own hands.

Several Republican Congressmen came out and told Trump that Putin is not a friend of the United States and that firing their former congressional colleague, Sessions, will end the little bit of support he has in Congress.

Trump didn’t have a card to play in this game because the sanctions bill received bi-partisan support and therefore was veto proof.

So with his back up against the wall, Trump signed the sanctions bill that stripped him of his power to remove the Russian sanctions. Yep, Trump signed away his power.

As for the recess appointments, the Senate decided not to go on full vacation and to instead have pro forma sessions.

The pro forma sessions allows the Senate to remain in session while they are on vacation.

Obama tried, unsuccessfully, to challenge the Senate’s semi-open session by making recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

The case was argued before the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of the Senate.

So yeah, the Supreme Court has given the legal backing the Senate needs just in case Trump tries to pull an Obama.

So much for "The Art of the Deal,” huh?
